Luminosa Fantastica, named for its shining and extraordinary appearance, is a bioluminescent fungus in the Luminispectra Chromagloria cluster. It features a vivid orange-yellow, translucent cap with undulating margins and dense radiating gills beneath. The cap shows a gradient from orange to pale blue with faint speckling. Slender, semi-translucent pale blue stipes support fruiting bodies 5–25 cm tall, weighing up to 15 g each. Bioluminescence, peaking at 450–495 nm, originates from gills and caps, indicating an efficient luciferin-luciferase system adapted to dim tropical forest floors. Ecologically saprotrophic on moist leaf litter, it plays a key role in nutrient cycling. Classified in Agaricales genus Luminosa, spore dispersal is aided by elevated caps and nocturnal insect attraction. Its mycelial networks enhance decomposition and soil health, marking it a rare species of scientific and aesthetic importance.
