Luminiflora Caelestis, a bioluminescent flowering plant of genus Petalum in the Glimmera cluster, stands 5-30 cm tall with a delicate stem and dense rosette of curved, overlapping petals. Petals exhibit iridescent blue and vibrant orange with subtle magenta highlights and extended central stamens bearing vivid orange pollen. Bioluminescence peaks at 450–495 nm, mainly at petal edges and stamens, linked to a luciferin-luciferase reaction suited for dim tropical understory light. Native to humid tropical rainforest understories, it grows at 15-30°C, showing rhythmic pulsation aiding nocturnal pollination by moths and beetles. Weighing 50-150 g, it occupies a unique ecological niche within a rare bioluminescent plant family, promoting genetic diversity via specialized night pollination.
