Senior & Junior Creative Coder – DATALAND

DATALAND Inc. is seeking both a Senior and Junior Creative Coder to join our team in Los Angeles. We are looking for visionary programmers who are passionate about interactive and immersive AV installations, eager to push the boundaries of art, data, and technology. Our ideal candidates bring hands-on experience in environments such as vvvv, Unity3D, Unreal, TouchDesigner, or similar platforms. Prior vvvv expertise is highly valued, but not required — in-depth training will be provided during onboarding.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain, modify, and extend existing vvvv projects running at DATALAND
  2. Prototype, design, and develop new creative coding projects for large-scale immersive experiences
  3. Collaborate with global teams across time zones (AEST, CET, PST)
  4. Contribute to the refinement of DATALAND’s cutting-edge interactive environments, ensuring seamless audience experiences

General Requirements:

  1. This is a full-time, on-site position in Los Angeles
  2. Excellent written and spoken English
  3. Strong communication and collaboration skills
  4. Comfort working in a fast-paced, experimental, and multidisciplinary environment

Senior Creative Coder Requirements:

  1. Proven track record of programming large-scale, complex interactive AV installations
  2. Strong visual design sensibility and the ability to translate concepts into immersive experiences
  3. Fluency in programming languages such as C#, C++, Python, or Java
  4. Expertise in shader coding (GLSL/HLSL or similar)
  5. Deep knowledge of software development processes, version control, and debugging strategies

Junior Creative Coder Requirements:

  1. Demonstrated experience in creative coding using vvvv, Unity3D, Unreal, TouchDesigner, or equivalent environments
  2. Familiarity with shader coding and eagerness to expand skills in this area
  3. Strong design sense and ability to collaborate with artists, designers, and engineers
  4. Curiosity, adaptability, and willingness to grow within a high-performing team.
