Lumina Caelestis, named from Latin for 'light' and 'celestial,' features a 10 cm wingspan with elongated wings patterned in blue, gold, and violet, adorned by leaf-like embroidery and dark veins for camouflage. Its robust, sleek body displays bright yellow-orange pigments on the thorax and abdomen. Bioluminescence occurs at 420-490 nm, emitting cyan and deep blue glows along forewing edges and veins in a rhythmic pulsation, complementing its energy-efficient gliding flight. Native to tropical rainforest canopies at 20-30°C, it uses luminescence for communication and mating. Classified under Chromaflorae Lepidoptera, the genus includes about ten luminescent species. Though rare, Lumina Caelestis has a stable population within its niche.
