About Dataland: The Future of Art is Here.

Dataland is not just a museum. We are the world’s first institution dedicated to the AI Arts — a new cultural paradigm where data is the pigment, machine intelligence is the collaborator, and human imagination is the guide. Conceived by artist Refik Anadol Studio and opening in 2026 within the iconic Frank Gehry-designed The Grand LA, Dataland is a new landmark in the cultural heart of Los Angeles.

We are building a global ecosystem for data-driven art, ethical AI research, and immersive experiences that have never been realized at this scale or quality. Our mission is to explore what it means to be human in the age of AI, transforming vast, unseen datasets into poetic, sensory realities. We are a team of artists, engineers, storytellers, and strategists building the cultural institution of the 22nd century. This is your opportunity to build it with us.

The Opportunity: Architect the digital backbone of the world’s first Museum of AI Arts.

As our Head of Network, you will lead and maintain the sophisticated digital infrastructure that powers Dataland’s immersive installations. You will oversee large-scale computer fleets, complex IT and AV networks, and mission-critical systems with zero tolerance for downtime. This is not a conventional IT role — it’s an opportunity to design the connective tissue of an entirely new kind of cultural institution.

What You Will Achieve:

Pioneer: Build and manage robust network architectures and computing systems that enable Dataland’s real-time, data-driven art environments.

Create: Design and deploy scalable infrastructure to support AI-based media, high-bandwidth audiovisual systems, and live event networks.

Collaborate: Partner with artists, engineers, and creative technologists to ensure seamless data flow and system reliability across exhibition, production, and research environments.

Innovate: Implement cutting-edge networking technologies and automation tools, integrating IT and AV systems to create an intelligent, adaptive infrastructure.

Shape: Establish operational standards, security protocols, and maintenance programs to ensure the long-term stability and scalability of Dataland’s digital ecosystem.

The Ideal Candidate Profile:

You are a network architect with a creative spirit — a systems thinker who can bridge the worlds of technology and art. You excel in complex, interdisciplinary environments where reliability, precision, and innovation intersect.

Core Qualifications:

  1. 5+ years of experience in IT or AV network integration, installation, and operations.
  2. Proven success designing and managing high-availability architectures in mission-critical environments.
  3. Proficiency in managing large Windows and Linux computer fleets, including firmware updates, BIOS configuration, and Ansible automation.
  4. Skilled in hardware troubleshooting: PCI card swaps, custom computer builds, and system-level repair.
  5. Strong knowledge of IT network infrastructure, including Juniper and Netgear hardware, firewall management, DNS, DHCP, multicast, and VLAN tagging.
  6. CCNA certification or equivalent hands-on experience.
  7. Expertise in media fabric networks (SDVoE, AES-67, AVB, QLAN, NDI, NTP/PTP) and orchestration tools such as Dante Controller, NDI Tools, and Aurora IPBaseT Manager.
  8. Familiarity with audiovisual systems including QSC Q-SYS, L-Acoustics, video wall processors, and LED systems.
  9. Experience with 10-bit 4K UHD video workflows and auto-calibration/warping systems.
  10. Advanced troubleshooting skills: log file analysis, Wireshark packet sniffing, and command-line switch configuration.
  11. Experience managing structured cabling systems, including fiber and RJ45 certification, cleaning, and testing.
  12. Ability to lift 40 lbs, climb ladders, and work safely in elevated or confined spaces.

Bonus Points:

  1. Experience supporting technology in art, theater, or immersive installations.
  2. Deep curiosity about the intersection of data, technology, and creativity.
  3. Experience in startup environments or large-scale public-facing launches.
  4. Familiarity with automation, monitoring, and system optimization for live environments.
